Private Pilot
Holders of a Pilot Permit - Recreational may credit any hours flown. The Private Pilot Licence can be built up with additional ratings, such as Night, Seaplane, Multi-Engine, Aerobatic, VFR OTT and Instrument. All flight hours completed for your Recreational Pilot Permit can be credited toward your Private Pilot Licence.
Privileges: Holders of a Private Pilot Licence may, during daylight, fly any canadian registered aircraft anywhere in the world. Although holders of this licence may carry passengers on board, they may not fly for hire. The Private Pilot Licence is recognized abroad and is easily converted to a foreign licence. It can also be built up with additional ratings or licences.
Minimum age: 17
Medical requirements: Class III Transport Canada’s minimal requirements 40 hours of ground school A total of 45 hours of flight time, including: 17 hours of flight time with an instructor 12 hours of solo flight time
Examinations: Written test completed at a Transport Canada facility Practical flight test with a Transport Canada-approved inspector
